Sunflowers find the ideal location at Bond's Mill

The Sunflowers charity has found what it calls ‘the ideal location’ for its new offices  at Bond’s Mill in Stonehouse, owned by Robert Hitchins Ltd.

The suicide support organisation was set up in memory of Pete Morris who took his own life in 2016, aged 29.

His family wanted to support any individuals in Gloucestershire who had been bereaved by suicide so they would not feel overwhelmed and alone.

The Sunflowers charity they set up is in the process of setting up a Family Support Service to offer bereavement support to children who have been bereaved by suicide, which will be facilitated at Bond’s Mill.

“We wanted an office that was bright and friendly to uplift the families we are walking alongside,” said Abbie Warren, Pete’s sister.

“The office lends itself to the work we do there, with a large room where we will deliver support and a smaller room for our office work.

“We loved the area down at Bond’s Mill and the community feel. The estate is pretty and maintained to a nice standard, making it seem welcoming. We felt it was lovely to have the opportunity to walk along the canal with families and to spend time with them.

“The location is ideal for us as it is within easy access of the M5 and accessible for people in Gloucester and Cheltenham.”

Helen Hawke from Robert Hitchins Ltd was pleased to welcome Sunflowers to Bond’s Mill which is situated alongside the Stroudwater Canal in a mix of refurbished Victorian mill buildings and modern commercial premises.

“Amongst our 50 tenants we have several charities thriving at Bond’s Mill and I am really pleased that the Morris family and their co-trustees have chosen Bond’s Mill to be the home of Sunflowers,” she said.

“It is satisfying to see how these characterful buildings have been refurbished to provide quality office accommodation within a lovely environment.”
